Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
